Where in the GTA

“Toronto” on a listing covers about seven thousand square kilometres and six million people. A listing marked Toronto might be twenty minutes from you or an hour and a half, and which it is depends entirely on which side of the 401 you are both on. Here is how the region actually breaks up.

The core

Downtown and the Entertainment District are where the hotels are, which makes them where most outcall activity concentrates. King West and Queen West run younger and denser. Yorkville is the higher end of the market and has been for decades. Liberty Village, Leslieville and The Beaches are residential and carry a good share of independent incall.

All of this is inside a small area served by the subway and the streetcars, which is why the core behaves like one market rather than several.

North York and the north

The stretch of Yonge between Sheppard and Finch, Willowdale, and the industrial pockets around Keele and Steeles hold most of the GTA's licensed massage establishments. If you are browsing the massage listings rather than the escort ones, this is most of the map.

Vaughan and Richmond Hill sit above that and are thinner, with providers more likely to travel than to host.

East and west

Scarborough and the east are spread out and car-dependent — Kennedy, Markham Road, Sheppard East. Markham proper, around Unionville and the Highway 7 corridor, has its own regulars who rarely come downtown at all.

Etobicoke and the west run along the Queensway and Dundas West towards the airport, which is why listings there so often mention hotel availability near Pearson — it is a genuine sub-market driven by people who are in town for two days.

The 905

Mississauga is large enough to be its own market rather than an overflow of Toronto's, centred on Square One with quieter and separate scenes in Port Credit and Streetsville. Brampton, Oakville and Burlington are thinner but real.

The thing people underestimate is travel time. The 401 and the DVP at rush hour turn twenty kilometres into an hour, which is why outcall fees across the GTA are banded by distance rather than charged flat. If you are outside the core, filter by your own area before you filter by anything else.

Where to look

The Toronto page carries the listings and the area filters. The board's Toronto sections run alongside them and are where the reviews live.
